# Claude Code

> Connect to the corpus via Claude Code.

Claude Code supports remote MCP servers via the command line. One command connects it to the corpus — no config file editing required.

## Setup

### 1. Get your API key

Contact [ben@dialogue-ai.co](mailto:ben@dialogue-ai.co) to receive your API key.

### 2. Add the MCP server

Run this command in your terminal, replacing `YOUR_API_KEY` with your API key:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http dialogue https://mcp.dialogue-ai.co/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
```

### 3. Verify the connection

```bash
claude mcp list
```

You should see `dialogue` listed with a `✓ Connected` status.

### 4. Use it in a session

Start a Claude Code session:

```bash
claude
```

Then ask naturally — no special syntax needed:

```
What are UK consumers most worried about when it comes to life insurance?
```

```
Give me the highest-liked quotes from people in the pre-retirement life stage.
```

```
Fetch this page and compare the copy against the corpus: https://example.com
```

Claude will automatically call the relevant Dialogue tools.

## VS Code and JetBrains

The same MCP config is shared with the Claude Code VS Code and JetBrains extensions. Run the `claude mcp add` command above in any terminal — it applies across all environments.

To manage servers inside VS Code or JetBrains, type `/mcp` in the Claude chat panel.

## Troubleshooting

**`✗ Failed to connect`** — Run `curl -I https://mcp.dialogue-ai.co/health` to confirm the server is reachable. Check your API key is correct.

**`! Needs authentication`** — Type `/mcp` inside a session, select `dialogue`, and choose **Authenticate**.

**Server already exists error** — Remove the old entry first: `claude mcp remove dialogue`, then re-run the add command.
